Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience scheduling surgeries/procedures preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT Coding and working knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, or other scheduling software.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule patient procedures and surgeries as ordered by physicians, including pre- and post-operative services.
• Provide patients and families with clear, timely instructions on procedure preparation and follow-up requirements.
• Accurately communicate patient financial obligations and insurance-related details when applicable.
• Work with providers to secure surgical block time at affiliated hospitals or surgical centers.
• Submit and manage physician orders to endoscopy units and surgical facilities.
• Monitor schedules to ensure accuracy and timeliness, adjusting for delays or cancellations.
• Respond to patient and provider inquiries regarding scheduling issues and escalate complex concerns with resolutions.
• Maintain HIPAA and privacy standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule patient procedures and surgeries as ordered by physicians, including associated pre- and post-operative services
• Provide patients and their families with clear, timely instructions on procedure preparation and follow-up requirements
• Accurately communicate patient financial obligations and insurance-related details when applicable
• Work closely with providers to ensure proper scheduling, including securing surgical block time at affiliated hospitals or surgical centers
• Submit and manage physician orders to endoscopy units and surgical facilities
• Monitor schedules to ensure accuracy and timeliness, adjusting for delays or cancellations as needed
• Respond to patient and provider inquiries regarding scheduling issues; elevate complex concerns to the appropriate departments with recommended resolutions
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational privacy standards at all times
• Support additional administrative and operational tasks as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting
• Minimum of 1 year of experience scheduling surgeries/procedures preferred
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT Coding and working knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Proficiency in MS Excel, or other scheduling software
• Prolonged periods of sitting and/or being stationary at a desk.
• Must be able to move around an office/healthcare environment on a consistent basis
• Consistently uses computers and relays information via email, messaging and phone.
• Must communicate with others and exchange information frequently and on an on-going basis.
• Must be able to lift/move up to 15 lbs.
