Job summary

New Hampshire Department of Safety is recruiting Probationary Troopers for the Division of State Police. The process includes a written examination, followed by a physical agility test on the same day, with eligibility based on minimum qualifications and a successful background review.

The starting salary is $34,394 with a career ladder to $50,068; benefits include leave accrual, health and dental coverage, and retirement.

Qualifications

• Age 21+ and U.S. citizen required.
• Minimum education includes high school diploma or GED with related options.

Responsibilities

• Perform traffic enforcement and law enforcement patrol functions.
• Use firearms in stressful situations with high proficiency.
• Assess probable cause for search and arrest.
• Intervene in disputes to restore peace and safety.
• Arrest suspects and pursue/resistors as needed.
• Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters.
• Process and transport prisoners.
• Gather information and write investigative reports.
• Prosecute cases in court with effective communication.

Education

High school diploma or GED, PLUS two years full-time employment as a certified police officer, OR

High school diploma or GED, PLUS 60 credit hours from a recognized college, preferably with a major in Criminal Justice, OR

High school diploma or GED, PLUS two years full-time active duty military service with an honorable discharge.
