Job summary

The Maine State Police, a division of the Department of Public Safety, is seeking qualified candidates for a statewide patrol role. Base salary ranges from $65,166 to $90,542 annually, with additional eligibility for a $0.85 hourly stipend for all State Troopers.

This position emphasizes community engagement, investigations, and interagency collaboration. Candidates must meet strict fitness standards and hold a valid driver's license, with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• A valid driver's license.
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• A passing score on the Physical Fitness Test (40th percentile for non officers, 50th percentile for certified officers).
• Full-time, certified officers must attach their Academy certificate.

Responsibilities

• Patrols an assigned geographic area to ensure compliance with laws and assist the public.
• Performs law enforcement functions for communities without police departments; engage with the community.
• Issues warnings, makes arrests, collects and preserves evidence, briefs prosecutors, and documents cases.
• Investigates complaints and incidents to enforce the law and protect the public.
