Job summary

San Bernardino County is seeking Probation Officer III to perform complex functions related to investigation, surveillance, supervision, and rehabilitation of adult and juvenile probationers and PRCS.

The role includes coordinating and training probation officers, serving as safety officer, and conducting personnel background investigations, program evaluations, and department projects. An armed position and peace officer status are required.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent coursework from an accredited college/university.
• Education: 30 semester units in psychology/sociology/criminology/criminal justice, half upper division.
• Education: Associate's degree or equivalent in related behavioral science field.
• Experience: Seven years of journey-level Probation Officer experience for the highest educational option.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, supervise, and rehabilitate adult and juvenile probationers and PRCS.
• Coordinate and train probation officers; act as safety officer; conduct background investigations and program evaluations.
• Supervise other probation officers and contribute to department projects and community presentations.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent coursework

Thirty (30) semester units in psychology/sociology/criminology/criminal justice or related behavioral science field

Associate's degree or equivalent coursework in related behavioral science field

High school diploma or equivalent; 7 years journey-level Probation Officer experience
