Job summary

Hickman Lowder is seeking a paralegal to support our probate practice in Sheffield Village, Ohio. The role involves communicating with clients, courts, and attorneys, and requires strong written and verbal communication.

Typical schedule is 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with intermittent work from home. Compensation ranges from $28.00 to $33.00 per hour, with benefits including health and dental insurance and a 401(k) with a 3% employer match.

Qualifications

• Paralegal experience in a law firm or a degree in paralegal studies or a related field.
• Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Foxit.
• Experience managing client files in electronic and paper formats.
• Experience with document assembly programs, case management software, or similar applications.
• Ability to accurately record billable and non-billable time.
• Successful BCI background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with probate matters and prepare probate forms for estates, guardianships, and trusts.
• Record deeds and file documents in person and electronically.
• Communicate with tax preparers, referral sources, and probate courts.
• Learn the local rules and forms for Ohio probate courts.
• Manage attorney calendars and prepare for hearings.
• Draft outgoing correspondence and manage incoming correspondence.
• Prioritize workflow.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
