Penn State Abington invites applications for a Proactive Adviser/Academic Success Coach. The role provides targeted advising to a cohort of at-risk first- and second-year students, helping them plan courses and develop an academic path to degree completion.

The successful candidate will engage a diverse student body, empower students to take ownership of their education, and connect them with learning support, financial aid, career services, and campus resources.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree and 1+ years of relevant experience or equivalent
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work with diverse student populations and respond to student needs

Responsibilities

• Initiate early and regular contact with students in the cohort
• Help students clarify and plan educational goals
• Assist students with course selection
• Advise on developing an academic plan to complete a degree
• Meet with students on a scheduled basis to keep them on track
• Connect students to resources for academic, personal, and professional success
• Promote experiential learning opportunities and student life activities
• Continued targeted outreach to keep students engaged and progressing
