Penn State Abington invites applications for the position of Proactive Adviser/Academic Success Coach. This role provides targeted, high-touch advising to a cohort of at-risk students in their first and second years of college.

Primary responsibilities include initiating early contact, helping students clarify goals, assisting with course selection, developing an academic plan, meeting regularly, connecting to resources, promoting experiential learning, and continuing outreach to keep students

Qualifications

• Master's degree required; 1+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations.
• Background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Initiate early and regular contact with students in the cohort.
• Help students clarify and plan educational goals.
• Assist with course selection and academic planning.
• Meet with students regularly to keep them on track.
• Connect students to resources for academic, personal, and professional success.
• Promote experiential learning and student life activities.
• Outreach to ensure student engagement and progress.
