Department Summary

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the intellectual hub of the University of Oregon, serving nearly two-thirds of all students. Home to more than 800 faculty across 50+ departments and programs in the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences, CAS is a dynamic and interdisciplinary academic community. Position Summary

The German and Scandinavian Department at the University of Oregon seeks to establish a pool of qualified candidates interested in Pro-Tem Instructor positions. Depending on departmental needs and candidate qualifications, Pro-Tem Instructors may teach undergraduate courses in German language and culture. Instructors are expected to provide high-quality instruction, maintain regular communication with students, and contribute to an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Positions are limited duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years, based on programmatic need, funding, and performance. Screening of applications will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled.

Minimum Requirements
  • Fluency in German.
  • Master's degree in German or related field.
  • One (1) year post-secondary instructional experience.
