The University of Oregon's Geography Department seeks qualified candidates for Pro Tem Instructor (Geography) positions on an open pool basis. These are 9-month appointments with teaching duties as needs arise, offering opportunities to teach undergraduate courses such as The Natural Environment, The Human Planet, and Society, Culture, and Place.
Successful candidates will hold a Master's degree in Geography or a related field, with instructional experience; a Ph.D. is preferred.

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the intellectual hub of the University of Oregon, serving nearly two-thirds of all students. The Geography Department is an instructional department within theCollege of Arts and Sciences, which supports significant researchactivities in various types of geographic study. Research andgraduate education in the Department of Geography focuses on thefollowing subfields: (a) Geographic information science:cartography, GIS, data analysis and visualization, spatial analysisand modeling; (b) Human geography: political-ethnic, cultural,human-environment relations, and behavioral geography; (c) Physicalgeography: Quaternary studies, biogeography, climatology andclimatic change, geomorphology; (d) Environmental studies: forestand ecosystem issues, river and watershed issues, biodiversity andglobal environmental change, policy and law, environmentalapplications of GIS; and (e) Geographic education.
The Department of Geography at the University of Oregon seeks toestablish a pool of qualified candidates interested in Pro TemInstructor positions. Depending on departmental needs and candidatequalifications, Pro Tem Instructors may teach lower or upperdivision undergraduate courses, such as The Natural Environment,The Human Planet, and Society, Culture, and Place.
Positions are limited duration appointments potentially renewablefor up to a total of three years, based on programmatic need,funding, and performance. Screening of applications will take placeas positions become available and continue until positions arefilled.
