Job summary

The Phoenix Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in New York, NY is seeking a full-time Respiratory Therapist to join a dynamic geriatric care team. The RT will evaluate, treat, and manage respiratory care for residents, working independently within a skilled nursing facility.

Responsibilities include initiating therapies, documenting care, and participating in IDT meetings. Licensure in the state and BLS certification are required; prior LTC experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of COARC accredited AS or BS Respiratory program. Licensed as RRT or CRT.
• Licensed in the state in which practicing; BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Completes assessments and implements respiratory techniques to rehab patients with various illnesses.
• Initiate therapies, maintain patient records, operate, check, and assemble equipment.
• Complete a variety of bedside treatments.
• Complete in-services for nursing staff every quarter.
• Responsible for completing daily, weekly and monthly documentation.
• Attend applicable IDT meetings.
• Experience with tracheotomy.
• Experience in a long term care setting.

Candidate should possess passion for geriatric population, must contain a license in the state of practice, be able to evaluate and treat independently without direct supervision, and posses the desire to perform functional therapeutic activities to assist residents improve in their experience. • Responsible for completing daily, weekly and monthly documentation
• Attend applicable IDT meetings
• Experience with tracheotomy
• Experience is a long term care setting
• Follow procedure and protocol of facility
• Completes tracking, auditing and caseload management
• Performs related duties as required
