American Family Care is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant to support urgent care centers by mixing clinical duties with front desk tasks, including patient registration and insurance verification. You will work a flexible schedule with a minimum of 4 shifts per month and potential for additional shifts.

The role prioritizes compassionate patient care, accurate EMR entries, and adherence to HIPAA and infection control standards.

Formación

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within onboarding period.
• Urgent care or emergency room experience highly valued.
• EMR proficiency (Experity preferred); comfort with payer portals (e.g., Waystar).
• Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsabilidades

• Clinical Care: Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/histories, venipuncture, CLIA-waved point-of-care testing, assist with minor procedures, wound care, EKGs, and nebulizer therapy.
• Insurance Verification & Front Desk: Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, reconcile payment logs, and maintain EMR accuracy.
• Patient Service: Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations, provide discharge instructions, and de-escalate concerns with professionalism.
• Team & Compliance: Participate in daily huddles, maintain compliance logs, support infection-control and HIPAA standards.
