Job summary

American Family Care is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant to support urgent care centers across AL, CT, FL, GA, MA & TN. You will greet patients, perform venipuncture, collect vitals, verify insurance, and assist with front-desk tasks while maintaining EMR accuracy.

The role requires MA certification, BLS, and at least 1 year of verification/registration experience; flexible shifts, evenings/weekends, and potential float coverage are included.

Qualifications

• Must complete an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification at the time of hire.
• At least 1 year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Active BLS certification or obtain within onboarding period.
• Urgent care or ER experience highly valued.
• Experience with EMR (Experity) and payer portals (Waystar).

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients; collect vitals, histories, venipuncture, and CLIA-waived tests.
• Register patients; verify insurance eligibility; determine financial responsibility; collect co-pays; maintain EMR accuracy.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations; provide discharge instructions; de-escalate concerns with empathy.
• Support daily huddles; maintain compliance logs; assist infection-control and HIPAA standards.
