Job summary

HCA Florida Highlands Hospital in Sebring, FL seeks a Speech Language Pathologist PRN to evaluate and treat patients, improving communication, cognition and swallowing. Requirements include a Master’s in SLP, state licensure, BLS, and CCC-SLP where possible, with prior adult acute care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• State professional license to practice speech-language pathology.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; CCC-SLP often required or preferred.
• Experience: prior experience in adult acute care or direct patient rehabilitation (minimum of one year).

Responsibilities

• Evaluating Patients: Use standardized tools to assess communication, memory, thinking, and swallowing skills.
• Treatment Planning: Create and update care plans to help patients swallow safely and communicate clearly.
• Patient Education: Teach patients and families home strategies and goals.
• Team Collaboration: Work with doctors, nurses, and other therapists for coordinated care.
• Documentation: Record daily notes, evaluations, progress reports, and discharge summaries.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
