Job summary

Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to develop and implement individualized therapy programs for patients with acute and chronic conditions in inpatient and/or outpatient settings.

You will evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders; provide aural rehab and AAC options; educate families and staff; and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support discharge and return to optimal function.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
CCC-SLP certification is preferred or required upon hire.
License to practice as SLP in Virginia required upon hire.
CPR/BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
Provide aural rehabilitation for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals.
Offer augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems as needed.
Educate and train family, caregivers, and other professionals.
Implement and modify the treatment plan to meet discharge criteria.
Record progress and update the plan of care accordingly.
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to training of staff and students.
