Job summary

Boulder Centre for Orthopedics and Spine is seeking a skilled RN for PACU/Pre-Op care in a PRN role. You’ll assess patients before surgery, initiate IVs, monitor vitals, and support recovery and discharge planning in a fast-paced orthopedic environment.

The ideal candidate holds a Colorado RN license, BCLS/ACLS/PALS, and 2 years of Pre-Op/PACU experience in orthopedics. Competitive hourly wage offered. Commitment to patient safety and HIPAA compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• Colorado RN license required.
• BCLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required.
• 2 years Pre-Op/PACU RN experience in orthopedic care preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, instruct and prepare patients prior to surgery.
• Ensure operative and informed consents are signed and correct.
• Record vital statistics for readiness for procedure.
• Initiate IVs and inform patients about procedures.
• Assess post-operative condition and discharge readiness.
• Monitor vitals and progress to meet discharge criteria.
• Log findings in patient files and document care.
• Answer questions and ensure patient comfort.
• Monitor condition changes and report to physician.
• Perform intervention duties during post-op emergencies.

Reports to: Pre-Op/PACU Manager

Schedule/Type: PRN

Wage: $50/hr

Requirements

Essential Duties

• Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery
• Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
• Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
• Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure
• Assess patients’ post-operative condition
• Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria
• Log all findings in patient files
• Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort
• Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician
• Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies

Experience Required

• 2 year of Pre-Op/PACU (RN) experience in an Orthopedic setting preferred.
• Acute Care: 1 year (Preferred)

Education/Certification requirements

• Degree in Nursing: Bachelors Preferred
• Current Colorado Registered Nurse license
• BCLS & ACLS certification required.
• PALS certification
