Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System in Boise, Idaho, seeks a part-time Phlebotomist/Central Processing Tech for PRN (as needed) shifts. Evening, night and weekend differential applies. This position does not offer insurance benefits or paid time off.

Under supervision, you will collect blood samples, register and process specimens, perform data entry, and maintain communication with the lab and staff. Prior phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting is preferred; HS diploma required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and hospital staff.
• Good working knowledge of medical terminology and computers.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Experience in phlebotomy in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples, correctly identify patients, transport specimens and perform related clerical and computer tasks under supervision.
• Register, order, properly collect, label, process, and distribute specimens for laboratory testing from patients of all ages.
• Utilize relevant computer programs and perform data entry.
• Serve as the central communication point of the laboratory for all incoming requests and maintain quality and quantity of specimens sent to reference laboratories and reporting of results.
