Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection per policy
• Ensure positive patient identification and proper bedside labeling
• Prepare, package and transport specimens maintaining sample integrity and safety
• Explain procedures to patients to ensure comfort and understanding
• Clean, sterilize and maintain phlebotomy equipment and workspace
• Document patient and specimen information accurately in the lab system
• Collect timed specimens as ordered and complete tasks efficiently
• Identify and resolve specimen issues, re-collect when needed
• Collaborate with care team to clarify orders and communicate specimen status
• Adhere to hospital safety and regulatory standards and perform other duties as assigned
• Maintain regular attendance and comply with policies
