Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a phlebotomist to perform venipuncture and specimen collection across newborn, pediatric, and adult patients, ensuring patient safety and accurate labeling. You will verify patient IDs, assist with inventory and billing, and enter results in the LIS per CLIA guidelines.

The position requires a high school diploma and 1 year of phlebotomy experience is preferred, with strong communication skills for interface with physicians, patients, and staff in a fast-paced hospital

Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge/experience in phlebotomy or related lab function.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with software applications.
• Strong typing and data entry abilities.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identification and collect specimens per protocol.
• Perform venipuncture on neonate to adult patients as required.
• Label specimens correctly and resolve identification/requisition issues.
• Support CLIA-compliant testing and document results in the LIS.
• Assist with inventory, billing support, and equipment upkeep.
