Responsibilities

• Verify patient identification and assess reactions to specimen procurement to ensure safety.
• Perform venipuncture and collect specimens from newborns to adults as per protocol; seek assistance when needed.
• Collect specimens according to priority and scheduled draws, ensuring protocol adherence.
• Ensure proper labeling and suitability of specimens for testing; resolve identification and requisition issues.
• Answer calls, assist with inventory, and maintain supplies/equipment.
• Accept and sort specimens from internal and external customers; manage additional procurement requests.
• Order and verify test requests; document information for quality assurance and improvement.
• Review pending and management reports; generate and distribute reports.
• Support Billing and other business functions as needed.
• Instruct employees and students in phlebotomy and data entry.
• Demonstrate knowledge of age-appropriate patient care principles and adapt care to developmental needs.
