Job Details

The PRN Pharmacy Technician obtains new patient's clinical and prescription plan coverage information, reviews new prescriptions, and/or prescription. This position is compliance critical and requires specific responsibility for ensuring continual and proper compliance with all division, corporate, and regulatory requirements.

Pharmacy Hours of Operation:

Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Closed on Weekends & Holidays.

Responsibilities:

1. Creating a patient profile in the pharmacy information system.
2. Entering necessary prescription plan information for processing and adjudicating prescriptions.
3. Entering all new patient prescription information into the system.
4. Addressing insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues by communicating with insurance providers, patients, and pharmacists.
5. Participating in achieving business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy.
6. Retrieving and preparing medication for pharmacist review and verification.
7. Preparing inventory reports for pharmacist review.
8. Submitting, receiving, and stocking inventory.
9. Answering inbound calls and triaging them appropriately.
10. Reviewing adjudicated prescription claims for reimbursement accuracy and following up on inappropriate claims.
11. Assisting pharmacists with therapeutic consultations.
12. Intervening with Pharmacy Benefit Manager Companies to resolve adjudication issues.

Education:

Typically requires a minimum of two years of ambulatory pharmacy experience; a bachelor's degree is preferred. Pharmacy technician certification from a national organization such as PTCB or equivalent is required. State certification is acceptable if it meets or exceeds national standards.
