Job summary

Jackson Hospital is seeking an experienced Patient Access/Registration professional responsible for accurate data collection and managing patient financial responsibilities at the point of service. Tasks include pre-registration, registration, payer ID, benefits verification, and referrals to financial counseling.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, strong communication skills, and the ability to type 40–50 words per minute.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous business office experience preferred in a healthcare environment.
• Ability to interact with the public, including children, adolescents, adults and geriatric.
• Ability to interpret and possess basic medical and anatomy terminology skills.
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity to utilize PC and calculator.
• Visual acuity for filing and proofing documents.
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
• Verbal communication and hearing ability to communicate with customers.
• Typing 40 to 50 words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registration and registration tasks.
• Payer identification and verification.
• Referral to financial counseling as needed.
• Point of service collections and data gathering in computer systems.
• Verify benefits eligibility and coordination of benefits.
• Determine and collect patient financial responsibility.
• Ensure compliance with Medicare and other regulatory requirements (HIPAA, EMTALA).
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and staff using AIDET.
