Job summary

St. David's Austin Area Ambulatory Surgery Center, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a PACU Nurse for PRN opportunities. You will care for patients postoperatively, ensuring safe recovery and discharge per criteria within an ambulatory surgery setting.

Qualified candidates hold an RN license, an Associate Degree in Nursing or higher, and BCLS/ACLS (and PALS if required). Experience in PACU/ICU or surgery is preferred; the center offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Active RN license as required by state of employment.
• BCLS certification required at hire; online certification not acceptable.
• ACLS within 30 days of hire; PALS if required by facility within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient care area and ensure supplies and equipment are available.
• Demonstrate airway management techniques and monitor vitals according to policy.
• Insert, maintain and remove IV catheters and saline locks as needed.
• Perform head-to-toe evaluations using approved scoring per policy.
• Check dressings/operative sites and report abnormalities to the surgeon.
• Provide a safe, comforting environment for patients and families.
• Ensure patients meet discharge criteria.
