Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Surgical/Oncology unit in Birmingham, AL. The role is part-time with night shift coverage, supporting RN/LPN staff through basic patient care tasks and data collection in a high-quality, patient-centered environment.

The PCT will aid with activities of daily living, monitor vitals, assist with feeding and hygiene, and ensure a safe care setting while maintaining professional communication with the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years in an acute care setting or currently enrolled in a Nursing program preferred.
• BCLS certification within 90 days of hire required.
• CNA or CPCT preferred.
• Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with basic patient care and maintain a safe, organized environment.
• Record and report vital signs and other patient data to RN/LPN/LVN.
• Support patients with meals, hygiene, mobility, and daily activities.
• Assist with positioning, ambulation, and use of mobility aids.
• Communicate patient information effectively to the care team.
