Job summary

Mercy Health – Youngstown seeks a Registered Mammography Technologist to perform breast imaging including DEXA in a fast-paced diagnostic imaging department. You will collaborate with radiologists to ensure high-quality images and accurate patient histories.

The role requires ARRT Diagnostic Radiology registration, with advanced mammography registration preferred or obtainable within 1 year. A 1-year mammography experience is preferred, with BLS certification as needed.

Qualifications

• Certification and Registration with ARRT in Diagnostic Radiology is required.
• Advanced Mammography ARRT registration preferred or must obtain within 1 year.
• State licensure preferred where required.
• BLS Basic Life Support required at hire for some Mercy locations; preferred before independent patient care.

Responsibilities

• Performs all breast imaging and DEXA procedures.
• Assists the radiologist in invasive breast procedures with aseptic technique and proper consent.
• Correlates patient history with procedure and communicates to the licensed provider.
• Selects and operates breast imaging equipment and exposure factors.
• Applies radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient and staff.
• Provides patient education and discharge instructions.
• Participates in quality assessments and improvement plans.
• Adheres to universal precautions and infection control policies.
