Role Responsibilities

As a Hospice Aide/ Certified Nursing Assistant, you will:

• Report directly to the Administrator, Executive Director, or Patient Care Manager and function under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Supervisor.
• Help the patient maintain good personal hygiene.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Prepare and serve light meals.
• Assist in feeding patients when needed.
• Assist the patient in ambulation.
• Assist with the safe use of a walker or wheelchair as taught and supervised by the nurse.
• Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as emptying trash and changing linens.
• Assist with certain treatments as ordered on the aide plan of care and as allowed by state-specific regulations.
• Promote patient’s mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest.
• Provide basic emotional and psychological support to the patient and household members.
• Report any change in the patient’s condition or home situation to the RN and team.
• Demonstrate basic care to the primary caregiver.
• Practice infection control measures and standard precautions.
• Provide accurate documentation and visit itineraries.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in Quality Improvement activities annually.
• Complete timely documentation as outlined in orientation.

Requirements

About You

• Compassionate, kind, and empathetic to patients and families.
• Comfortable providing care wherever the patient calls “home”.
• Demonstrate flexibility and composure during crises.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license.
• Six (6) months of patient care experience preferred.
• Additional experience in hospital or emergency settings is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
• Current CPR certification.
