The role emphasizes independence, patient relationships, and high-quality communication therapy to improve speech, cognition, and swallowing. Requirements include a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology and state licensure, with at least one year of clinical experience.

Qualifications

• Must have a master’s or doctoral degree in speech-language pathology and be licensed in the state where practicing.
• Minimum of one year’s clinical experience in Speech–Language Pathology.
• Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, and organization skills.
• Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Conducts appropriate evaluations and plans care.
• Develops an individualized plan of care with patient and caregiver involvement.
• Provides clinician-directed services as ordered by the physician.
• Counsels patients, families, and caregivers; provides education as needed.
• Communicates with physicians and other health care practitioners about the care plan.
• Identifies speech deficits and creates a plan to improve function.
• Administers speech therapy programs and recommends devices as indicated.
• Maintains clinical notes and participates in internal meetings for coordinated care.
