Job summary

Advanced Correctional Healthcare is seeking a registered nurse to deliver high-quality medical and behavioral health care in a correctional setting. You will assess patients, administer medications, and collaborate with practitioners to ensure safe, timely care.

Responsibilities include triage, vital signs, patient education, and strict adherence to HIPAA and infection control standards. On-site shifts may span multiple facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Active nursing license in the state where services are provided, in good standing.
• BLS certification; hands-on training.
• Excellent documentation skills.
• Knowledge of the RN scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care to patients.
• Contact practitioner to obtain orders.
• Administer prescribed medication, treatments, and other tasks.
• Provide emergency first aid care when appropriate.
• Record vital signs, peak flows, blood glucose, weight, and other tests on-site when appropriate.
• Triage intake screenings for necessity and priority at sick call.
• Collect and record data for CQI reporting.
• Document care information concisely and timely.
• Report reactions to treatments and medications, and changes in patients’ condition.
• Provide patient education on facility policies and discharge planning.
• Coordinate multiple medical services for diagnosis and treatment as directed.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control precautions.
• Maintain knowledge of pharmacology and therapeutic diets.
