Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under the supervision of registered nurses in a hospital environment. You will assist with daily activities, vital signs, and documentation in the EMR.

The role supports admissions, discharges, and transfers while maintaining infection control and patient safety. You will coordinate with multiple departments to schedule tests and treatments, handle communications, and help ensure patient comfort and dignity.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily patient care under RN, including bathing, feeding, and ambulation; record vitals.
• Support admission/transfer/discharge processes; ensure room setup and belongings.
• Perform purposeful rounds and communicate observations to RN; document appropriately.
• Support nutrition tasks: diet review, tray setup, and diet selection.
• Maintain infection prevention practices: hand hygiene, PPE, sterile procedures.
• Coordinate tests and treatments; schedule with departments; manage EMR entries.
• Facilitate communications via phone/paging; troubleshoot unit equipment.
• Prepare chart forms for admissions/discharges and manage records.
• Foster positive customer relations and effective patient-family communication.
• Demonstrate age-specific care and adapt to patient needs per policy
