Qualifications

• Completion of a cardiac ultrasound training program is required.
• RDCS certification/registry within 1 year of employment is required.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic echocardiograms and stress echo procedures as ordered by physicians.
• Records quality information while performing echocardiographic imaging and following guidelines.
• Explains procedures and possible side effects to patients and families.
• Confirms physician requests and checks patient history for indicators/contraindications.
• Collaborates with physicians to ensure quality patient care.
• Operates echocardiography equipment and maintains patient records.
• Organizes staging of reporting: study completion, interpretation, final report.
• Submits final reports to nursing units, physician offices or medical records.
• Performs portable echocardiograms and participates in on-call/weekend/holiday rotations.
