Private Bankers are responsible for business development of professional high net worth individuals and their related businesses, administering loan portfolios, providing clients with wealth management and treasury management solutions, cultivating current relationships, identifying and marketing to prospects, analyzing financial data and needs, and cross-selling products and services.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Maintain a client portfolio for the bank.
- Expand existing client relationships to generate incremental revenue for the bank.
- Develop new client relationships which generate acceptable returns for the bank.
- Work with Management and Underwriters to analyze the credit strengths and weaknesses of prospective borrowers and make loan decision recommendations.
- Work with Management to make recommendations on loan pricing that are competitive with the marketplace and achieve an acceptable return for the bank.
- Work with Management to structure loans (term, covenants, collateral, guarantees, etc.) that appropriately protect the bank.
- Work with Management to recognize client needs and match the bank's capabilities to meet these needs.
- Work with Management on loan structure, pricing, and other products/services for clients.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the bank's lending policies and regulatory requirements, particularly Consumer regulations.
- Work across multiple channels to solve client needs: consumer, business banking, and commercial.
- Maintain proper house-holding of relationships.
- Utilize the appropriate underwriting channel for each client.
- Upload financial information and client details into the central repository throughout the underwriting process.
- Gather financials for new and renewal opportunities with clients.
- Prepare Opportunity Memos with Management for new and renewal requests to initiate underwriting.
- Work directly with underwriters to ensure accurate reflection of financials and proper preparation of models like Loss Given Default, Probability of Default, and Risk Adjusted Return on Capital.
- Coordinate deal team meetings among Relationship Managers, Market Presidents, Senior Credit Officers, and Underwriters.
- Ensure accuracy of underwriting packages with other team members.
- Create and prepare term sheets under management supervision.
- Finalize term sheets to meet client and bank needs.
- Engage underwriters to update results of term sheets as needed for review by the deal team.
- Coordinate credit decisions with senior management including Market President, Senior Credit Officer, and others.
- Create and finalize Commitment Letters with management supervision.
- Ensure all conditions precedent are met for loan closing.
- Review closing documents.
- Communicate with clients effectively.
- Identify portfolio weaknesses and trends; alert management to deteriorating conditions.
- Ensure receipt of all financial and covenant requirements, managing exceptions per policy.
- Conduct annual reviews and risk ratings of client relationships, including completing models for ongoing portfolio management.
- Monitor client adherence to covenants, reviewing calculations and provisions regularly.
Qualifications Include
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and education.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
