Job summary

Wayfair seeks a Counsel to lead global privacy and data protection efforts, collaborate with business and privacy partners, and steer complex legal responses. The role includes drafting and negotiating privacy provisions in transactions, maintaining regulatory knowledge, and shaping customer privacy disclosures.

Ideal candidates hold a JD with state bar membership and have experience with major privacy laws (CCPA/GDPR/TCPA). A hybrid work model is available with select offices.

Qualifications

• JD required with outstanding degree and active state bar membership.
• Experience with CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, TCPA and cybersecurity/privacy requirements in tech environments.
• Proactive, collaborative, and able to resolve complex issues with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Implement global privacy and data protection programs with partner teams.
• Support and improve privacy program strategies, including data reduction and classification.
• Lead responses to privacy or data protection or legal questions.
• Draft, negotiate and approve data privacy and security aspects of transactions and plans (DPA, data transfers).
• Maintain knowledge base of privacy laws and business controls.
• Develop customer-friendly privacy disclosures and data subject rights processes.
• Collaborate with product teams to promote privacy by design and align product goals with privacy principles.
• Work with other attorneys and promote privacy champions across the company.
