Legal.io is partnering with a leading tech company to hire a Privacy Counsel for a 3-month contract, hybrid in Wilmington, MA. The role supports the privacy and AI legal team with day-to-day tasks, contract reviews, and governance work.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in privacy or tech law, strong drafting, research, and training material development skills, and the ability to translate complex requirements into practical playbooks for the team.

Qualifications

• Contract reviews of routine agreements, with escalation where needed
• Strong research across privacy, technology, or regulatory topics
• Clear, practical drafting for internal guidance, summaries, and training materials
• Good instincts on when to elevate questions or higher-risk issues
• Ability to work with legal and cross-functional stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Support first-pass review of routine data processing agreements and AI vendor contracts
• Manage routine data privacy requests (data deletion, impact assessments, data subject requests)
• Conduct legal research on DPO requirements, training obligations, AI governance
• Draft and update playbooks, checklists, trackers, and internal guidance materials; assist with trainings and onboarding
• Maintain trackers, status updates, and documentation for privacy and AI projects
• Monitor regulatory developments and prepare concise summaries for counsel
• Support internal knowledge resources and self-service materials
