Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Privacy by Design Engineer to design, implement, and operationalize privacy controls embedded across enterprise data platforms, analytics, AI systems, digital products, and vehicle technologies.

You will partner with Legal, Cybersecurity, Data Governance, Product, and Vehicle Engineering teams to translate regulatory obligations into practical technical controls throughout the SDLC.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software/engineering or related technical disciplines.
• Experience implementing privacy, security, data protection, or governance controls.
• Strong understanding of Privacy by Design and data protection concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain privacy-by-design solutions across enterprise platforms and vehicle systems.
• Engineer privacy controls for personal, sensitive, and regulated data throughout its lifecycle.
• Build and operationalize privacy-enhancing technologies and reusable privacy services.
• Design and develop technical privacy solutions for current, emerging, and strategic programs.
• Analyze requirements to identify privacy risks and control requirements.
• Develop technical specifications and engineering artifacts for privacy capabilities.
• Participate in software design reviews and provide privacy guidance.
• Support development teams with privacy controls implementation and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to remediation of privacy-related defects and design issues.
• Communicate privacy engineering best practices across engineering teams.
• Serve as Privacy Engineering SME within programs.
