Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking a Privacy by Design Engineer to design, implement, and operationalize privacy controls across enterprise data platforms, analytics, AI systems, and vehicle technologies.

The role emphasizes embedding privacy requirements early in the software lifecycle and collaborating with Legal, Privacy, Cybersecurity, Data Governance, Product, and Vehicle Engineering teams to reduce risk and enable compliant innovation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineer, platform, or cybersecurity experience with privacy, security, data protection or governance controls.
• Strong understanding of Privacy by Design principles and data protection concepts.
• Experience working with Legal, Privacy, Compliance, Cybersecurity, or Data Governance teams.

Responsibilities

• Design privacy-by-design solutions across enterprise platforms and vehicle systems.
• Implement privacy controls protecting personal, sensitive, and regulated data throughout its lifecycle.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate privacy controls into data pipelines and APIs.
• Support privacy reviews, threat modeling, and solution assessments for new initiatives.
• Document technical implementations and communicate best practices across teams.
