Job summary

The State of Nevada Department of Corrections seeks a Supervisor 1, Prison Industries located at Northern Nevada Correctional Center Ranch in Carson City. The incumbent will manage, plan, organize, and supervise Prison Industries programs to ensure profitable operation and effective use of staff and resources.

Candidates should have at least three years of relevant experience with at least one year in a supervisory role and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of applicable experience in prison industries or related field.
• One year of supervisory experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the performance of inmates in manufacturing goods or providing services.
• Maintain adequate levels of raw materials.
• Review and interpret operating financial statements, determine product cost and pricing.
• Plan production schedules and staffing to ensure profitable operations.
• Provide technical expertise on cost, material usage, and production capabilities.
• Review blueprints and specifications to determine component requirements.
• Explain and market services and goods available.
• Assist in preparing marketing materials.
• Investigate and submit bid opportunities.
• Establish and monitor work safety and security procedures.
• Prepare and maintain accounting records and reports.
• Monitor cost accounting and overdue receivables.
• Inspect finished goods against schedules and quality standards.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
