Job summary

Nevada Department of Corrections is seeking two Heat Plant Specialist 3s for Ely State Prison. You will supervise inmate workers, monitor a computerized energy management system, adjust combustion and safety controls, and perform preventive maintenance on boilers and related equipment.

The role requires completing an apprenticeship or equivalent experience, with responsibilities that include maintaining logs, handling emergencies, and coordinating maintenance activities with the Facility

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized heat plant apprenticeship program.
• One year of journey level experience as a heat plant specialist.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
• One year of experience as a Heat Plant Specialist II in Nevada State service.

Responsibilities

• Check system functions by monitoring and adjusting a computerized energy management system and controls.
• Perform preventive maintenance on boilers and related equipment.
• Maintain logs and respond to emergencies.
• Work with inmate workers in supervisory roles.
• Prepare budget requests for maintenance and equipment replacement.
