Job summary

Trinity Health MI is seeking a Prior Authorization Technician to support medication access across ambulatory clinics. You will coordinate prior authorizations, manage Multi-Step Order Transmittal tasks in Epic, and assist providers and office staff with PA requirements and documentation.

You will verify coverage for commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid plans, communicate with patients, and maintain accurate Epic notes.

Qualifications

• Must have high school education or equivalent.
• Licensed Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist Intern in Michigan.
• Minimum 1 year Pharmacy Tech work experience.
• Understanding of commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid plans.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and PA criteria.
• Prefer Epic and payer portals experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate prior authorizations by reviewing payer requirements and submitting PA requests.
• Manage MSOT workflow and ensure accurate internal routing.
• Support providers and clinic staff with PA-related questions and documentation.
• Communicate PA approvals, denials, and alternative therapy needs.
• Update patients on PA status and insurance requirements.
• Investigate insurance benefits, verify coverage, copays, and formulary options.
• Maintain timely notes in Epic for PA status and communications.
• Navigate denials and escalate only when clinical review is needed.
• Prioritize multiple PA/MSOT requests and meet turnaround times.
