Job summary

Dahl Consulting is seeking a Print Buyer in Minneapolis, MN for a 12-month hybrid contract. You will oversee end-to-end production of in-store marketing materials, manage budgets, and coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality materials on time and within budget.

Ideal candidates bring strong project management, vendor relationships, and proficiency with Smartsheet, Excel, and PowerPoint to optimize production workflows and drive continuous improvements.

About the Role

Our client is a leading national retailer known for delivering innovative and engaging in-store experiences across a broad range of merchandise categories. We are seeking a Print Buyer to support the end-to-end production of in-store marketing materials that help bring brand and merchandising strategies to life. This hybrid position is ideal for a detail-oriented production professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and has experience managing print production, vendor relationships, budgets, and cross-functional partnerships. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring marketing materials are produced accurately, efficiently, on time, and within budget while driving continuous process improvements.

Job Description
Production Management & Execution

Support the end-to-end production of in-store marketing materials across multiple business categories and initiatives. Translate project requirements and stakeholder inputs into detailed production plans and deliverables. Review mechanical files and production materials to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications. Build and maintain strong relationships with print vendors and external production partners. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and ensure successful execution. Serve as a key point of contact throughout the production lifecycle, resolving issues and facilitating communication. Respond to field and store support inquiries, identify recurring challenges, and recommend solutions. Partner with domestic and global teams to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency.

Estimates & Budget Management

Develop, maintain, and manage project estimates throughout the production lifecycle. Communicate budget updates, cost changes, and potential impacts to stakeholders in a timely manner. Ensure projects remain within approved budgets while identifying opportunities for cost savings and production efficiencies.

Communication & Cross-Functional Coordination

Act as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external partners to translate business and creative requirements into actionable production specifications. Coordinate with design teams, vendors, and project stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet quality, timing, and budget expectations. Proactively communicate risks, challenges, and project updates. Support standardization efforts by helping create scalable and repeatable production processes.

Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement

Identify production risks, inefficiencies, and process improvement opportunities. Develop practical solutions that enhance workflow efficiency and execution quality. Recommend and implement innovative production methods that improve scalability, effectiveness, and operational performance. Contribute to ongoing process optimization initiatives and best practice development.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Experience in print production, print buying, or related production management functions.
  • Proficiency with Smartsheet.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to review production files and materials for quality and accuracy.
  • Strong vendor management and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities.
  • Experience managing project budgets, estimates, and production costs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting retail, merchandising, marketing, or point-of-sale production environments.
  • Knowledge of large-scale in-store marketing and signage production.
  • Experience working with domestic and international production teams.
  • Familiarity with print manufacturing processes, materials, and production specifications.
  • Continuous improvement or workflow optimization experience.
  • Experience working within enterprise-scale marketing or creative operations organizations.
