Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking a Principal Transmission Structural Engineer to lead analysis and design of transmission poles, towers, and foundations. You will guide senior engineers, ensure QA/QC standards, and advance projects across multiple states.

The role requires deep materials knowledge, familiarity with historic and modern techniques, and hands-on use of PLS-CADD, STAAD Pro, and related tools. Remote/hybrid with travel available.

Qualifikationen

• Four-year ABET engineering degree (Civil or Structural).
• 12–15+ years of progressively responsible transmission structural experience.
• SE licensure in CA and IL required; other states preferred.
• Deep understanding of historic and current transmission materials (wood, steel, composites, legacy foundations).

Aufgaben

• Lead structural analysis and design of steel poles, wood poles, lattice towers, guyed towers, and specialty structures.
• Evaluate upgrades, reconductoring, hardening, clearance improvements, and joint-use attachments.
• Perform advanced loading evaluations per ASCE 7, ASCE 48, ASCE 10, NESC, and utility criteria.
• Model structures using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, TOWER, and related tools.
• Review and approve structural packages prepared by others.
• Mentor Senior Engineers, Engineers, and Engineering Associates.
• Engage with clients to present structural solutions and support project planning.
