Job summary

Raytheon, operating as RTX, seeks an experienced Principal Thermal Engineer in the MA&T department in Tucson. You will perform complex thermal analyses from design trades through qualification and production support, using hand calculations and FE tools, and lead test planning and data reduction efforts.

The role requires a strong background in thermodynamics, hands-on testing planning, and ability to present results to varied stakeholders. Prior experience leading teams is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM and 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Advanced degree may substitute for additional years of experience (Master's = 2 yrs, PhD = 5 yrs).
• Experience in thermal analysis with FloTHERM, PATRAN, Thermal Desktop/SINDA or ANSYS or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently and solve mechanical/thermal problems; strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform hand calculations to scope higher detail analysis models.
• Conduct detailed thermal analyses to address program challenges.
• Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance.
• Analyze test data to validate and correlate models.
• Collaborate with experienced analysts on moderately complex problems within cost/time constraints.
• Review work with peers for technical accuracy.
• Present results to internal, external, and government customers.
• Generate documentation and archive for reference; lead analysis/test teams when needed.
