Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Test Engineer to lead a team in developing test solutions. This role involves participating in or leading a team to develop structured Test Requirement Specifications (TRSs) and Test Design Descriptions (TDDs) for products, supporting various testing phases such as in-process, environmental stress screening (ESS), and acceptance testing. The engineer will develop test stands, hardware test interface equipment (ITAs), and software test scripts to sequence test events, as well as integrate, verify, validate, and release test software that meets these requirements.

The role may require a mix of hardware and software skills and involves team leadership and reporting on test engineering progress using status reports and earned value metrics.

Products and Responsibilities

1. Test stands, ITAs, test software, board, and module level tests of analog, digital, RF, and hybrid systems at various levels using COTS and custom test instruments.
2. Development of instrument drivers, utilities, and executables to support testing, including control of environmental equipment.

Candidate Requirements

• Understanding of test engineering principles with knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines.
• Ability to provide technical solutions to complex problems and work independently.
• Experience in team leadership, project management, and inter-organizational communication.
• Proficiency in National Instruments Test Stand, RF test development, and programming languages such as C, C++, C#.
• Experience with RF measurement techniques and troubleshooting measurement anomalies.
• Good communication skills, initiative, and a closure-oriented approach.
• Cost account management experience and familiarity with instrument communication and RF measurements.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Supporting factory production test stands, debugging, and problem resolution.
• Developing RF test measurements for production and test solution development focusing on hardware and software aspects.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $130,355 - $221,603, based on market and individual qualifications. Benefits include health, dental, vision, 401(k), disability, life insurance, paid time off, holidays, and other perks.
