Job summary

SRC, Inc. in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Principal Systems Test Engineer to lead design and execution of Manufacturing test capabilities for radar, CUAS, and EW systems. You will guide junior engineers, develop robust test strategies, and ensure repeatable, data‑driven results across hardware, software, and manufacturing teams.

You will apply DOE/MSA techniques, perform system simulations in MATLAB/Python, and build production test software with LabVIEW, TestStand, and Python. Travel <10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field; Master's degree preferred.
• 12+ years of experience in system‑level testing, integration, and/or verification in aerospace/defense or regulated industries.
• Deep understanding of systems engineering and test strategy development for complex RF products.
• Hands‑on experience with automated test systems, data analysis, system debugging, and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with model‑based systems engineering, digital threads, and digital test environments.
• Ability to collaborate in cross‑functional teams with strong communication skills.
• Some travel (<10%) may be required for field tests, demonstrations, and customer meetings.

Responsibilities

• Design test strategies, architectures, and plans ensuring repeatability and alignment with system requirements.
• Leverage statistical analysis to interpret results, identify root causes, quantify variation, and validate margins.
• Use MSA concepts and GR&R to maximize test coverage and accuracy.
• Translate subsystem behavior and tolerances into measurable test parameters for manufacturing tests.
• Develop system and subsystem test procedures with thorough coverage to minimize system failures.
• Evaluate trade studies and architectures to improve yield and product performance.
• Troubleshoot system‑level issues using advanced root‑cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
• Perform simulations, modeling, and data analysis in MATLAB/Python to identify improvements.
• Develop production test software using NI LabVIEW, TestStand, and Python.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership in production systems engineering.
