Job summary

TerraPower LLC. seeks a Principal Engineer for Structural and Stress Analysis in Bellevue, WA. This role focuses on evaluating mechanical performance of reactor components and nuclear island systems, reporting to the team manager and collaborating with engineers and scientists on next-generation reactor designs.

The ideal candidate has extensive M.E. experience, deep knowledge of ASME code requirements, and hands-on FEA with ANSYS and SolidWorks, plus leadership in multi-disciplinary projects.

Qualifications

• Requires a degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 15+ years with BS, 12+ with MS, or 8+ with PhD in related field.
• Experience with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section III Div. 5 and 1.
• Familiarity with ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.1, B31.3; ASCE 4/7/43 is desirable.
• Experience interfacing with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform stress, creep-fatigue, buckling, seismic, and vibration analyses.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on static/dynamic analyses using FEA.
• Maintain and review analysis documentation and design solutions.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to team development.
• Serve as technical point of contact for focused tasks.
