Job summary

Protingent Staffing is seeking a Senior Stress and Structural Analyst for a contract role, focusing on advanced structural analyses of reactor components. You will work with a cross-functional engineering team to ensure compliance with ASME codes and seismic requirements while documenting results and guiding junior staff.

The ideal candidate has extensive FEA experience, proficiency with ANSYS and SolidWorks, and familiarity with high-integrity QA processes.

Qualifications

  • BS, MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering; aerospace, nuclear, and civil degrees are also considered.
  • 8+ years with BS, or 5+ years with MS, or 3+ years with PhD.
  • Proficient in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods and ANSYS/SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, and fatigue failure.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical analyses of reactor structures, systems, and nuclear island components to verify performance within codes and standards (ASME BPVC, ASCE, AISC).
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary engineers to optimize nuclear component design to meet functional and quality requirements.
  • Establish and maintain documentation of analysis results and design solutions.
  • Perform peer reviews to maintain quality per the engineering QA plan.
  • Assist the team Manager and Senior Manager when necessary.
  • Mentor engineers and team members to build a skilled, confident team.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for focus tasks.
