Vantage Data Centers is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead structural design for mission-critical data center facilities, emphasizing prefabricated and modular construction. The role balances speed-to-market with safety, reliability, and performance in data center infrastructure.

The position requires 10+ years of structural engineering experience, a PE license, and hands-on modular design expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer license required.
• 10+ years of structural engineering experience.
• 4+ years supporting data centers or mission-critical facilities.
• Hands-on experience designing structures for modular or prefabricated construction.
• Experience with foundations, steel and concrete framing, floor systems, and equipment supports.
• Knowledge of foundations for heavy equipment with vibration and movement.
• Experience managing transportation, lifting, and rigging of modules.
• Deep knowledge of ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC, IBC and related codes.
• Proficiency with ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, or RAM.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide Principal-level technical expertise for structural design of foundations, framing and floor systems.
• Establish structural requirements, standards, and guardrails across platforms and jurisdictions.
• Design systems optimized for modular and prefabricated construction, including PODs and MEP yards.
• Coordinate with architectural, MEP, manufacturing and fabrication partners on prefab delivery workflows.
• Lead design reviews, shop drawings, and constructability assessments.
• Review fabricator calculations and submittals, resolving interface challenges between modules and site builds.
• Lead constructability and value-engineering reviews focusing on modular sequencing and logistics.
• Perform site visits and fabrication facility observations.
