Job summary

Backblaze is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer to lead stability and scalability of production systems. You will influence across teams, establish observability and automation, and partner with executives and customers to maintain platform reliability.

The role emphasizes design of SLIs/SLOs, incident response, and automation using Terraform, Kubernetes, and AI tooling. You will mentor teams and help shape a reliability-driven culture at Backblaze.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in SRE, systems engineering, or operations.
• Experience with hyperscalers preferred.
• Experience with large-scale production systems.

Responsibilities

• Own availability and durability of critical services.
• Lead incident response and post-incident reviews.
• Define monitoring with SLIs/SLOs and error budgets.
• Design automation to reduce toil.
• Collaborate with teams across the org.
• Write scripts to improve reliability.
