Backblaze seeks a seasoned Senior Manager to lead the Site Reliability Engineering organization, shaping strategy and driving reliability across large-scale storage infrastructure.

You will hire and mentor a high-performing team, collaborate with engineering leaders, and own initiatives around observability, automation, patching, incident response, and post-incident learning. This role requires 10+ years in SRE/infra with leadership and strong communication.

Qualifikationen

• 10+ years of site reliability engineering, systems engineering, infrastructure, or production operations with leadership experience.
• Proven ability to build, manage, and mentor high-performing technical teams.
• Experience running reliability/infrastructure at scale with large production systems.
• Strong automation mindset and expertise deploying large fleets of Linux hosts.

Aufgaben

• Hire, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Site Reliability Engineers.
• Manage engineering managers and develop leadership capability across the org.
• Set reliability goals and ensure commitments are met or reset expectations as needed.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders to define priorities and execution plans.
• Develop automation to accelerate deployment of storage vaults, core servers, and infrastructure.
• Own vulnerability management and patching schedules to meet security and operational requirements.
• Drive complex reliability initiatives from discovery to resolution.
• Improve observability, monitoring, and alerting with meaningful health insights.
• Lead incident response, post-incident reviews, and root-cause analyses.
• Apply ITIL/operational processes across incident, change, and capacity management.
• Partner with teams to design resilient systems and reliable production operations.
• Engage with customers to understand reliability needs and align with business requirements.
• Work with vendors to troubleshoot issues and monitor SLA performance.
• Champion continuous improvement and a reliability-focused culture.
