Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Principal Hardware Engineer to own end-to-end hardware design integration for the TeraWave modules. You will drive multi-layer PCB design, optmize for manufacturability, and oversee the full lifecycle from prototype to volume production in a space-focused program.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in hardware design, DFX experience, and strong documentation skills to support manufacturing and test across orbital-scale systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 10+ years of hardware design experience in a product development environment.
• Experience designing multi-layer PCBs with high-speed digital interfaces and mixed-signal power distribution.
• Hands-on experience designing and integrating high-speed Ethernet switch hardware, including NPUs, SerDes, and PHY.
• DFX principles (DFM/DFT/DFA/DFR) in bringing hardware to volume production.
• Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-layer PCB design for switch line cards: stackup definition, impedance-controlled routing, thermal management, and DFM.
• Manage CCA BOM procurement, vendor coordination, and assembly oversight.
• Drive Design for Excellence (DFX) across the full subsystems lifecycle to scale hardware from prototype to volume production for TeraWave operations.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to define acceptance criteria, drive yield optimization, and support production ramp.
