Job summary

Vivint Smart Home is hiring a Principal Solutions Architect to own the holistic technical view of how our devices get set up and stay connected. This role spans panel firmware, cloud services, mobile applications, and the radios and home networks in between, driving architectural changes that improve install time, product quality, and customer trust.

You will operate across hardware, embedded, platform, cloud, and mobile engineering, partnering with product, design, QA, data, and field

Qualifications

10+ years in software or systems engineering with architectural leadership.
Hands-on understanding of device provisioning, cloud-to-device connectivity, OTA updates.
Experience with home networking and consumer mesh systems, Matter/Thread, BLE, Wi-Fi.
Proven ability to influence without authority across multiple teams.
Exceptional written communication and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain the holistic architectural picture across devices, cloud, and networks.
Propose and socialize architectural changes to reduce install time and improve quality.
Define architecture for device health telemetry and self-healing.
Lead build-versus-buy evaluations and integrate third-party services.
Collaborate with hardware makers and ODMs to ensure seamless integration.
Write evaluations, reference designs, and decision records for tradeoffs.
Analyze field telemetry and support data to drive prioritized architecture work.
Advise product leadership on roadmap and multi-year architectural direction.
