Job summary

Vivint Smart Home, an NRG owned company, is hiring a Principal Solutions Architect to own the holistic technical view of how our devices are set up and stay connected. This role spans panel firmware, cloud services, mobile apps, and the radios that tie them together, translating insights into architectural changes that speed up installations and improve reliability.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software or systems engineering with architecture leadership.
• Deep understanding of connected device architecture and OTA update.
• Experience with Wi‑Fi, mesh networks, Matter, Thread, BLE, Z‑Wave.
• Proven ability to influence across hardware, cloud, mobile teams.
• Excellent written communication for executives and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own holistic architectural view of setup and device connectivity across panel firmware, cloud services, mobile apps, and device radios.
• Lead build-versus-buy evaluations for third-party services and integrate them into platform architecture.
• Collaborate with device makers, ODMs, and silicon vendors during development to ensure seamless integration.
• Define telemetry, health checks, self-healing, and metrics for device connectivity.
• Draft architecture evaluations and decision records to guide product and engineering.
• Serve as technical advisor to product leadership on roadmap and strategy.
